It is possible to copy collection objects between collections and within a collection. Provided you have the necessary rights, you can copy collection objects, including all information, into another collection.
Hidden information and storage locations (storage unit information) are not copied. Storage locations are collection-specific and therefore do not exist in the new collection.
Contact data for events is also copied into the new collection if it cannot be matched (email and name match), just like private localities and minerals, etc.
If you are allowed to copy collection objects, you will find an icon
on the object. As soon as you click it, the record and a selection box for possible target collections will be displayed.
After you have selected a collection and clicked copy, you will be taken to the other collection to your copy.
Note: Copies are created with the same unique ID (GUSID). Each copy is completely independent. Any changes you make to the copy or the original apply only there.
If you copy collection objects within a collection, the globally unique GUSID is regenerated and replaced. It is not possible to store two objects with the same number within one collection.
“Copy” is only possible between different collections (the GUSID remains identical). “Copy as new” is also possible within a collection. In that case, the GUSID is replaced. A new collection object is created. This helps to create new collection objects with identical information.
When copying, not all information is transferred. For example, the storage location is not transferred. In most cases this changes. For copied objects, a keyword is created and assigned to the copy. This happens identically for all copied objects within a target collection. For each day, a keyword with the date is created. This makes it easy to find the copy and also makes it possible to apply changes to all copied objects at the same time.
Using the keyword assignment, you can apply changes to multiple copied objects together.
- Go to your keyword management either via the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines in the top left) or the keyword/tag icon
on the collection objects.
You can now assign and save additional properties to the objects together and at the same time..
