Currently, this collection management system is bilingual: German and English. Additional languages can be integrated with extra effort.
Most language elements provided by the system automatically switch to the selected language. This also applies to mineral and rock names. The menus adapt to the chosen language.
To allow multilingual input of the texts you enter yourself, some input fields are equipped with a language selector. You can switch the language of the entire system (language selector at the top) or of individual fields. This enables the entry of multiple language versions of your texts.
If a text has already been entered in one language and you switch to another language, the existing text is displayed in the input field in a smaller, greyed-out form. As soon as you start typing, this text disappears. This helps you view the existing text in advance for translation purposes.
If an input field does not have a language switch, there is only one entry shared across all languages.
In overview displays where your texts are shown, the configured language version is displayed. If the text is not available in that language, another language version is searched for and displayed as a fallback.
You can set your preferred language in your profile. Before logging in, the system attempts to use the language set in your browser. After logging in, and if you have defined a language in your profile, that language will be used. Regardless of this, you can temporarily switch the language during operation at any time, as described above.
