About us

The “Geolitho Stiftung gemein­nützige GmbH” was found­ed in 2021 by Dr. Man­fred Seitz and Ste­fan Schorn.

We, the Geolitho Stiftung gemein­nützige GmbH, pro­mote pub­lic edu­ca­tion in the fields of min­er­al­o­gy, eco­nom­ic geol­o­gy, geol­o­gy, pale­on­tol­ogy, and min­ing through the oper­a­tion, preser­va­tion, and fur­ther devel­op­ment of earth sci­ence projects.

The found­ing pur­pose is real­ized in par­tic­u­lar through the fol­low­ing measures:

• Con­tin­u­ous improve­ment of the func­tion­al­i­ty of the “Min­er­alien­at­las-Fos­silien­at­las” as well as ongo­ing con­tent updates in line with new developments.
• Con­tin­u­ous expan­sion of the “Lithothek der Münch­en­er Micro­mounter” with new col­lec­tion items, care­ful­ly observ­ing the objec­tives defined for this col­lec­tion (in par­tic­u­lar qual­i­ty improve­ment, com­plete­ness, sci­en­tif­ic ver­i­fi­a­bil­i­ty, preser­va­tion of valu­able col­lec­tion objects from dete­ri­o­ra­tion, and com­mem­o­ra­tion of col­lec­tors who are no longer active and their col­lect­ing achievements).
• Devel­op­ment and con­tin­u­ous improve­ment of the cross-col­lec­tion doc­u­men­ta­tion and pre­sen­ta­tion tool “Geolitho”.
• Devel­op­ment and con­tin­u­ous improve­ment of the Geolitho mar­ket­place for exchang­ing col­lec­tion items.
• Pro­vid­ing all geo­sci­en­tif­ic projects and their results for pub­lic and sci­en­tif­ic purposes.

The Geolitho Stiftung gGmbH there­fore pur­sues exclu­sive­ly and direct­ly char­i­ta­ble pur­pos­es and oper­ates on a non-prof­it basis.
